Heart's ease

£2.50

Organic & biodynamic seed. The most exquisite, dainty wild pansy. I defy you not to be cheered by these little flowers. I have them in vintage terracotta pots scattered around the courtyard although I must admit, they are even more delightful sprinkled over a light lemon sponge cake.

Sow anytime up until September. Keep picking to keep them flowering.

I adore them just as they are, picked from the plant (snip off the stem). But if you fancy going super special, they are easy to sugar. Mix an egg white with a tablespoon of water & then paint each flower very carefully. Dip in caster sugar to coat & then leave for at least twelve hours to dry.

Oh yes, do you know why it is called Heart’s Ease? It was traditionally used to make love potions. Consider yourself warned.
